Keratinophilic fungi associated with free-living mammals and birds

A concise list of records of keratinophilic fungi mainly isolated from hair [in mammals] or feathers [in birds] of asymptomatic animals or from their nests is given. Their frequency of occurrence and different ecological aspects of the association of keratinophilic fungi with wild vertebrates are also discussed.
